Film magazine analysis - Total Film

The magazine's name is big and bold and placed at the top of the page, so this will help it to be recognised more easily.
The layout of this magazine is spacious and you can see that everything is placed around the main image on the magazine which is of Megan Fox.
There are three small images on the front cover, which are situated above the name. These are small because they are not there to attract you to the magazine but are there to be informative to tell the reader on whats inside. On each side of the main image is the text and a pug that is informing the reader what is inside the magazine also.

The main image is of Model Megan Fox and the other three images show preview pictures of up coming films. They draw the reader in and this encourages them to buy the magazine, as they feel that they are exclusive but in truth everybody who has seen the magazne has seen them but this will make the reader feel important as they will think that they are the only ones to of seen it.
The main image is being shown and represent the sexyness of the main image and the image can be classed as revealing and feminine by the way she is posing and just by having this image it will automatocally be aimed at 18 year olds and onwards.

The text on the front cover is put into three diferent segments, the title, the first third and the last third, they have been put there to informt their audience on what is included within the magazine and has a section on what the main image is about.

The magazine has familiar concepts on it such as the barcode, the price and the production company on it, this is to inform the customer on how much the product costs and who it is made by.

Film poster analysis - Rambo

This poster is simple but very effective as it has the main character on the front of it and the picture shows us that he is in battle or in a similar set up as he is on the ground and pulling back on a bow and arrow possibly? Which also shows to us that there is something going on and this would have to link the film back to its genre. The colour scheme used is very basic as well as it consists of two main colours that are black and red, the black is on the main image and this could portray that the character is dirty through battle and this could show the meaning of fighting is a dirty horrible thing and the red is for the title and this stands out against the black background, so this will automatically draw the audience in which is a good thing as this is the main aim of the poster.

Film poster analysis - Casino Royale

This film poster is quite complex as it has shadows and other images mixed into the main one which is of the main character James Bond (Daniel Craig), again this poster doesn't give to much away but does show a building which is named the Casino Royale which is obviously the film title so this will play a big part in the film. On the poster it has James Bond facing the audience in his dinner suit which portrays that he is smart and he is also holding a gun which shows to us that there is going to be action involved and this links this film to its genre of action. The colour scheme consists of three main colours and they are white, black and grey and this could give the sense of a dark or gloomy thong happening within the film but of course we as the audience don't know that until we watch it so again we are drawn into watching the film and if this happens this shows that the poster has done it job. In the middle of the poster it has the film title in white writing and this stands against the black background so they have generated a positive/negative effect to place emphasis on the title and within the title they have used the text to include the trade mark that is 007 but at the end of the 7 they have included part of a gun to represent a full gun and this also shows to us that there will be action.

Film Poster analysis -Salt

This poster is very basic and simplistic, but the simplicity of the poster results in it being effective. The poster does not show to much therefore it doesn't give much away and this is what essentially draws the audience in which is the posters main aim. The main picture on the poster is of Angelina Jolie who is the main character and her image takes up the whole page and hte colours used are dark colours so this could mean that the main character (Angelina Jolie) is a mysterious person or somebody who has a secret that nobody knows. In the middle of the poster there os a taglinf asking the question of who is Salt? (the name of the film), this generates tension as her identity is possibly a secret and nobody knows who she is or who true identity. At the top of the page it only has one name and that is Angelina Jolie and this is because shes the main character and the most known person and this could draw in people just on its own so maybe this is a marketing technique used by the company.

Filming Schedule

For my filming of my groups film trailer, I wanted to select my locations that would likely be seen in an action thriller, therefore i selected various different locations so i could portray different settings of action thriller films.
I decided on filming in the school, a small winding country lane and the woods. The empty building that you see helps to set the scene of an action
film as many of them feature in films or similar setups are filmed in similar surroundings, likewise the small country lane and the woods portrays thriller as they are also isolated and hidden away and also they interlink with the horror genre which could of created tension and drew the audience in more.

Analysis of exisiting media

Casino Royale - Sound and music

I have decided to use James Bond - Casino Royale to look at to see how sound and music are used effectively. The first shot of the trailer sets the scene of a hot place as James bond is dressed smartly as allways but he has sunglasses on and he has his top button undone as he is gettin off of a plane, however the audience automatically know that he is not there for a holiday as everybody asscoiates James Bond with action and the music that is playing in the background is one that is frequently used during James Bond films so the audience automatically know where the song is from. The background music instantly creates some tense atmosphere for the audience who are now alerted that the genre of the film is action/thriller as they have used theor lnowledge to know that James Bnd films are a;ways action/thriller.
Throughout the trailer there are intense drops in the trailer to again create a sense of tension and excitement as this leads up to some drama wihtin the film and when there is drama within the trailer the tempo of the music matches the action well and again this helps to create a sense of tension/excitement. Throghout the whole trailer there is dialogue between the main chrachters and this will inform the audience of certain happenings within the film. At the start of the trailer the music's tempo was slow but as the trailer comences it becomes fatser to match the action within the film. As the action is happening during the trailer we hear different sounds that match the action for example we see and hear the explosion and this agaoin will create tension or a sense of excitement. This is something me and my group want to reflect in the sense of generating tension through the use of music and sond effects as we feel that this will enhance our trailer as a whole.

Audience feedback

In order to obtain the best possible feedback on my blog I included some questions for my viewers to answer in order to help me to change anything that would enhance my product. All of the questions on my blog had relevance to my film trailer and the people that answered my questions generally answered them in a positive manner and shared my enthusiasm about my product. As a group we originally come up with the name 'The Betrayal' but we received some direct constructive feedback from friends and other peers and came to the conclusion that we should change the name to suit out storyline better so we changed the film title to 'Deception', we all felt that this was a better name and suited the story line better as the story literally tells of someone deceiving another. Prior to finalising the film title we asked a range of people ranging from the ages of 15 to 40 on what name they preferred and the majority of them chose 'Deception' so we agreed to use this for the reason of it is obviously appealing to our audience and that is what we are aiming to do, attract our target audience/market.
